From June 20th to 22nd I took part in the launch of the SNF Research Project "Remembering the Past in the Conflicts of the Present: Civil Society and Contested Histories in the Post Soviet Space (1991 – 2017)", organised by the University of Bern.
During the conference we had a lot of inspiring discussions about historical narratives and their representations and enactment in different contexts. It will be challenging and exciting to bring together so many different situations, ideas and concepts in one research endeavor. Also I am sure we will get exciting new insights. It's a great pleasure for me to be part of such an interesting project and also part of such an inspiring round of experts!
Afterwards, I made use of the chance to see "old" and new friends and colleagues and had time to chat and exchange in Tbilisi, Zugdidi and even in Abkhazia. I very much enjoyed my trip and hope to be back soon with new projects.
